Feb. 25 Unmanned Helicopter being developed for anti-submarine warfare: This Artist's concept shows a remotely controlled DSN-1 drone helicopter scheduled for use in Anti-submarine warfare aboard the U.S. Navy's first helicopter destroyer, Hazelwood. When contact with a submarine is made, the drone helicopter is dispatched by remote control from the helicopter destroyer to the vicinity of the submarine, drops its homing torpedo, and returns to the ship. This operation is known as the Navy's dash weapon system. The DSN-1 is being developed for the navy by Gyrodyne company of America, INC
