Nov. 11, 1959 - The Marine corps landing force development center, Quantico, Virginia, is testing and evaluating a new 3/4 ton personnel cargo carrier known as the Convertible Mule'. Built by Willys motors of Toledo, Ohio, the vehicle is constructed entirely of Aluminum with the exception of its main frame. It can carry and or two a 3000 pound load of equipment over rough terrain. The Convertible Mule is equipped to seat six including the driver. It is also designed to be airlifted into combat areas by the present type marine corps helicopters
