Jul. 07, 1955 - American Midshipmen visit home of first sea Lord.: The highlight of a U.S. midshipemen's training cruise in Northern waters, was a visit of a party of fifty of the midshipmen were from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, and members of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps from several civilian colleges. Seven of the visiting warships including the battleship IOWA Weymouth, five, including the cruiser Des Moines, went to Plymouth; three, including the cruiser Columbus were at Torquay and one went to Sheerness. The visit to British Prts concluded early this week when the ships sailed to carry out a final exercise period in Cuban waters before returning to the United States.
