The air atomic age has forced this nation to recognize that the oceans and the control of the waters near our shores in themselves no longer prevent invasion of serious destruction in our country in the event of all-out-war. In addition to spiritual strength and political unity we must maintain adequate military forces equipped with modern superior weapons. Or air units must have the knowledge and training to make immediate and most effective use of this weapons if they are needed to preserve our freedom. Such Air Force exercises as tactical air command operation box kite provide this experience and know-how, and service notice to the entire world that we shall continue to build power for our own defense and to deter aggression. The hundreds of Air force personnel who took part in this exercise should be commended for a very important contribution to the national security program.
