Mar. 27 Versatile Flying Bananas': The advent of the atomic bomb has presented many problems for all types of warfare. While atomic weapons have not yet rendered the amphibious attack obselete they do pose a problem in how future invasions will be carried out.One solution is being developed by the Marine Corps of the United States by the use of transport helicopters for moving landing forces from ships to shore. The Marine Corps schools at Quanteco, Wa. is developing the tactics and techniques for the helicopters transported landing force. Based on ships widely dispersed off shore, the helicopters can load assault troops, flying in from different directions, circumventing powerful beach defences and land accurately in any desired position and formation.
