Apr. 18 Serving as reconnaissance eyes and ears are the Army Signal Corps new 8-pound tactical television camera pointed by Pvt Craig Heatley (wading River, L.I. NY) (right) and the handy talkie radio operated by Pvt William Fitzgerald (West Hempstead, L.I. N.Y.) The camera's transmitter or sending station is carried by Pvt Heatley. It has built-in batteries, freeing the cameraman for the first time from the cumbersome cable connections on earlier models that harnessed him to a separate power supply and limited his movement afoot.
