Jan. 01, 1962 - First US Atom cruiser arrived in Bremerhaven on maiden voyage: The first US Atomcruiser Long Beach came to Bremerhaven on its maiden voyage for five days. With its 14000 t the Long beach is the first surface warship with atom engine and at the same time one of the most modern warships of the USA. It is also the most expensive ship in the world: 1 Milliard German marks. Instead of the unusual batteries of guns the Atom Cruiser carries rockets.
