( Red Dog ) Balthorp of Nashville, Tennessee, won a jug ( empty of liquor ) as owner of the fiercest beard when the United States Submarine Archerfish docked at Belfast, Northern Ireland. Red Dog is pictured in his moments of triumph, with his beard, jug and trim, the latter donated by the Misses Julie Wheal ( left ) and Barbara Ibbottson, also visitors to Belfast from London, England
