May 20, 1967 - A Shot Down U.S Pilot is public paraded in Hanoi: The bayonets are at the ready but Liet-Colonel James Lindberg-Righes, aged 39, is hardly likely to attempt an escape. He is heavily bandaged, ragged, barefoot, and comes face to face with the reality of prisoner of war life in Hanoi. He is a captured flier, and as if being shot down on a bombing mission is not enough he must face the humiliation of being publicly paraded. That is why Huges, far from his base in Thailand, walks with head down and shoulders drooping as he is excorted to a press conference with other shot down airmen
