May 05, 1968 - U.S Nuclear Submarine Missing: The United States nuclear submarine Scorpion, with a crew of 99 officers and men, is overdue in the Atlantic, the Defense Department said last night in Washington. A massive search by submarine, ships and planes of the Atlantic Fleet is under way. Te Scorpion has not been heard of for seven days.
