Oct. 10, 1966 - Commit GI In German Killing: Bayreuth, Germany, Oct. 18 (AP)-A German court today acquitted 1st Lt. Gerald M. Werner of St. Paul, Minn, of the bathtub slaying of his German girl friend, rulling that he was insane. The court then Committed him to a mental institution. The acquital had been expected after the prosecution last Friday recommended such action. The prosecutor said that psychiatric testimony had convinced him that the 29-year-old lieutenant was not responsible for his actions. Werner was arrested in March, 1964, the day after police found dismembered sections of his girl friend's body strewn along the Autobahn near Bayreuth. He was accused of strangling her in the bathtub of his bachelor Party Villa and then cutting up the body and scattering the pieces along the the highway
