May 05, 1972 - Naval Officer Clears His Name After A Sixteen-Year Battle: Mr. Christopher Swabey, 45, who was dismissed from the Royal Navy 16 years ago after a court martial convicted him of indecently assaulting a junior officer, could get between30, 000 and40, 000 Navy back-pay as the result of a court decision yesterday which cleared his name. Lord Widgery, Lord Chief Justice, sitting at a Courts Martial Appeals Court, said that the conviction was unsafe and unsatisfactory'.
