Feb. 02, 1985 - Westmoreland Newsconference: General William C. Westmoreland, after 18 weeks of testimony in federal district court in Manhattan, ended his libel suit against CBS yesterday just days before lawyers for both sides would have begun their final summations to the Jury, Bringing to a close the libel suit brought by the general after the 1982 airing by CBS of the documentary The uncounted Enemy: a Vitnam deception'. The broadcast charged that general westmoreland and his command misled the public, the congress and the president about enemy troop strength to advance the political argument that the war was being won.
