Mini-Q spectrometer demonstrated by its inventors

Mar. 22 A Miniature mass spectrometer, far smaller in size and weight that any similar device with the same sensitivity and resolution, is connected on a test demonstration by its inventors, Dr. Peter H. Dawson (L) and Ray Whetten, of General Electronic Research and Development Center. Known as the Mini-Q Spectrometer, the new analytical tool is expected to be invaluable for applications that require compactness and accuracy. Aboard a space probe, for example, it could examine and identify the gases in interplanetary space, determine the atmospheres of the distant planets, or analyse rarefied gases on the surface of the moon
