Mini-submarine demonstrated in Pool of London

May 05, 1974 - Mini-Sub Demonstrated in Pool of London. The submarine services company Intersub Ltd today staged a demonstration in the Pool of London of the launching and recovery of its PCSB mini-submarine from the offshore marine supply vessel Bay Shore. Bay Shore is under charter to Intersub to act as mother ship for the PCSB and has spent the past month in Nantes where she was fitted with a powerful lifting system especially designed for operating the two-man observation submarine. The PSCB can operate at depths down to 800 feet, carry 500 lbs of equipment and undertake underwater missions lasting up to eight hours. The main sphere of operations for the PCSB are pipeline surveys; inspection and observation missions; precise bathymetry before platforms or storage tank installations; and searching for lost equipment. The mini-submarine's seabed capabilities, coupled with the mother ship's powerful anchor handling and towing equipment make the PCSB and the Bay Shore the ideal team for search and retrieval missions in offshore oil exploration areas.
