Aug. 08, 1971 - Increase of Housing construction in Sofia: While before World War II the Bulgarian capital Sofia had 350, 000 inhabitants, now they are over a million. This fact imposed accelerated housing construction in all quarters of Sofia. In the Eastern part of the city a whole belt of modern housing estates has been built - Iskar, Mladost, Iztok, Durvenitza and others. In the period 1971-75 65, 000 flats with 162, 000 rooms will be built in Sofia while in the period 1965-70 40, 070 flats with 89, 848 rooms were built.
