Model demonstrates waterproof leather boots, London
Aug. 08, 1970 - New Waterproof all-leather boots and shoes a new British invention shown in London. Mr. Stanley Briggs, a leather scientist at Leeds University, has invented a process for making leather lastlingly waterproof. Boots, shoes, jackets and coats made from this new waterproof quality cannot be destroyed by washing or dry cleaning. The treated leather looks like ordinary leather but has some extraordinary qualities. It is free from grease, soft and supple to handle and easy to manufacture. Severe laboratory tests have shown that the treated leather can go on repelling water long after all others have let it through.
