Model of Globe Theatre en route to Southwark
Sep. 30, 1976 - A MODEL OF one of BRITAIN'S FIRST THEATRES HANDED OVER TO THE MAYOR OF SOUTHWARK. PHOTO SHOWS: BARBARA DARCY and KENNETH BARRON, of the World Centre for Shakespeare Studies, receiving a model of one of Britain's first theatres, the original Elizabethan Globe on Bankside, from Councillor GEORGE SILVER, Mayor of Hackney, before it was taken by horse-drawn dray to the Globe Playhouse on London's Bankside yesterday. The model, which was been displayed at the Hackney Festival exhibition, was later handed by Councillor SILVER to the Mayor of Southwark
