Jun. 01, 1955 - Model of The Interior of The New Coventry Cathedral. New Building Will Contain World's Largest Tapestry. To be seen at the office in London of the architect - Mr. Basil Spence ARA - is a model of the Interior of the new Coventry Cathedral - the Cathedral which is rising from the ruins of the one destroyed by the Nazi Blitz. The model is 3ft. in height. The Cathedral itself will contain the biggest single tapestry in the world - which will weigh three quarters of a ton, and the cost of the material - weaving and placing of it in the Cathedral will be ?20, 000.. The design of the tapestry has just been completed by Graham Sutherland the artist - after three years of work. It has been approved by the Coventry Cathedral reconstruction Committee - and work on its production will commence soon.
