Modern sculptures at school in Mehlen, Germany
Nov. 11, 1959 - School children were allowed to choose a sculpture. The peculiar sculpture in front of the Protestant Elementary School in Mehlen near Bad Godesberg is the result of the voting of the scholars of this school. The children could choose between a very slender young man and this climb-tree as the children call the work of the sculptor Herman Berges of Mehlen. Because the committee of the school could not agree which piece they should choose, they had the idea to let the scholars themselves have their choice. They decided to take the climb-tree because they thought the Young man looked a bit too starved. Keystone- Feature Service, 3.11.1959
