Oct. 10, 1974 - British Petroleum in Battle Against Waves for North Sea Oil: In the face of worsening weather, and at a cost of 250, 000 a day, British Petroleum in a battle to get the first commercial North Sea oil ashore by next summer, and is at present engaged in placing the five remaining prefabricated modules on their platforms in the huge Forties Field, 110 miles north of Aberdeen, Scotland. The first 1750-ton module was hauled onto the Graythorp platform on October 14th. They are hoping patches of calm weather will enable them to fit the five remaining modules on top of the Graythorp 1 platform support system. A module is a prefabricated part of the platform made on land and brought out on a special barge.
