Mother and Child sculpture by Marguerite Saegesser, Munich

Nov. 13, 1957 - Marguerite Saegesser-Exhibition in Munich For the first time an exhibition of art-pieces created by the Swiss sculptor Marguerite Saegesser takes place at the Galerie Wolfgang Gurlitt, Munich from 14th November till 10th December 1957. The artist - born in Bern in 1922 - first made herself acquainted with the work of a mason before she started her studies with the well-known sculptor Milo Martin of Lausanne. After the war the artist visited Sweden and spent several years studying in Rome and some time in the United States. She paid a visit to the workshop of the British sculptor Henry Moore which was of greatest importance for her. The sculptures of the artist are something between the plain sculpture and plastical drawing. OPS:- Mother and Child (bronze)
