Motorcycle Gangs

Jan. 01, 1971 - Young motor cycle gang helps Y.M.C.A. over the Postal Strike; eighteen young boys ages 16 upwards, who belong to a motor cycle gang known as the Devil's Henchmen and are members of the Islington Y.M.C.A. offered their services to the Y.M, C, A, as messengers for the entire period of the postal strike and this offer was accepted. Today thirteen members of the Devil's Henchmen gang set off from 83, Endell St. London Central Y.M.C.A. and headquarters of the National Council of YMCA's to deliver YMCA mail throughout the Greater London area. Commenting on the Devil's Henchmen offer to help a YMCA spokesman said; There is only an anomaly in the names of the YMCA and the Devils Henchmen, not in the spirit behind this helpful and constructive gesture of these young people, which is so typical of our members throughout the YMCA Movement. All these boys are working during the day time, some as apprentices, some as shophands, others as laborers and they have given up their free time to make this splendid gesture.
