Oct. 10, 1955 - 60, 000 Cheer Wonder Boy Of Motor-Cycling As He Beats World Champion Geoff Duke: It was a battle of giants and a battle of motor-cycling brilliance between 21-year-old wonder-boy John Surtees and the mighty Geoff Duke at Brands Hatch yesterday. Surtees won and the crowd of 60, 000 went wild with delight. It was the second Surtees victory over Duke in two days, and also the second victory in two days for a British Norton over an Italian Gilera. The first victory came at Silverstone on Saturday. Surtees rode magnificently and beat Duke into second place at an average speed of 94, 78 m.p.h. The second victory came yesterday at Brands Hatch when Surtees boat Duke by 22.4 secs. Duke was third, beaten into second place by Alan Trow, also riding a Norton.
