Sep. 03, 1956 - Stirling Moss wins Grand Prix of Europe: Stirling Moss yesterday won the Grand Prix of Europe at Monza covering the 50 lap, 310 mile course at the record average speed of 129, 75 mph in a works Maserati. Photo shows the Ferrari driven by Jian Fangio of the Argentine has a wheel change and check-up in the pits during the great race. Fangio came in second and retained his world championship title
