Jul. 17, 1955 - Stirling Moss Wins British Grand Prix At Aintree - Becomes First Briton To Win Event: Stirling Moss won the British Grand Prix before a record crowd of 125, 000 over the Aintree, Liverpool, motor circuit yesterday, driving a Mercedes car at a speed of 86.47 m.p.h. for the 270 miles and thus became the first Briton to win the British Grand Prix.
