Aug. 08, 1970 - New Car for Jackie Stewart at Oulton: World Champion driver Jacket Stewart is to have a new Formula One car for this year remaining four championship event. The car - called the Tyrrell - Ford - is powered by a Ford Cosworth V8 engine. and will make its Formula One debut at Oulton Park in the InternationalGold Cup on Saturday. It will give Jackie Stewart his fourth Gran Prix chassis, who joined Ken Tyrrell from Ferguson Research. The car has a semi-wedge type nose with two integral winds and the whole forward section is made of fibreglass reinforced with carbon fibre. The monocoque has a pronounce bulge at the centre and the cockpit is subtantially wider than existing Formula One cars thus meeting the new 1971 requirements and not only makes the driving position more comfortable for the driver but enables him to leave the cockpit more easily in an emergency.
