Dec. 12, 1971 - A floating racing car show held on a car ferry in the Thames: The Evening News Motor Racing Showboat, a floating racing car show is being held on the Townsend Thoreseen car ferry Free Enterprise II which is moored in the Thames opposite Tower Pier. Over 100 racing cars were on show on the three car ferry decks. Photo shows Peter Connew with his new grand prix car which was built in a back street garage in Dagenham, by himself assisted by a group of enthusiasts working in the evenings and weekends. The new venture has cost under £1, 000 in materials parts. The rest has been given by leading companies. This was one of the attractions on display on the car ferry
