Aug. 08, 1971 - Japan Grand Prix: Japanese racing drivers Kuniomi Nagamatsu, and Osamu Masuko, each driving Japanese-built Mitsubishi Colt F2000's were first and second in the 1971 Japan Formula 1 Grand Prix run at the Fuji International Speedway near Mount Fujiyama, before a crowd of 75, 000 spectators this week. The 35-lap race on the six-kilometer winding course was won by Nagamatsu (age 27) in 1 hour 4 mins. 31.69 secs. at an average speed of 195.264 km/h. His cash award was 2 million yen.
