Apr. 23, 1973 - April 23rd 1973 Shekhar Mehta of Kenya wins the East African Safari Motor Rally Shekhar Mehta of Kenya, with co-driver Lofty Drews, driving a Datsun 240Z won the 21st East African Motor Rally in a very close finish with Swedish driver Harry Kallstrom, also driving a Datsun. Photo Shows: A constant hazard during the Safari is the wild animals and here we see a zebra racing away from a Peugeot 504 driven by Hugh Lionnet and Philip Hechls during the rally
