1972 - Girl Motorcyclist forbidden to compete in the Manx Grand Prix races against men at Crystal Palace; A very angry determined young lady arrived at the Crystal Palace race track today. She is Andrea Williams, 24 year old sister of Norton T.T. ace, Peter Williams, and had hope to compete this year in the Manx Grand Prix (the Junior T.T.) Her dream was shattered when she learned recently that the rules say a driver must be a male over 18 years of age and under 40. Today at Crystal Palace Andrea got her big chance when she competed against men riders on her 250 c.c. Yamaha motor cycle in a ten lap race. She was unplaced at the finish.
