1977 - Robert Horne beats Bluebird's British speed record: Robert Horne, 33 year old join chairman of Horne's tailors, broke the 51 year old record set by Sir Malcolm Campbell in his car the Bluebird for the flying mile at a speed of 191. 64 mph Robert raced down the Concorde test runway at R.A.F. Fainford Glos. beating the record by 21.03 mph. He took only 18.78 seconds to cover the mile, in his £16, 00 five litre Ferrari. During the run he had a top speed of 205 mph.
