Sep. 25, 1980 - Thrust 2 breaks the British land speed record: This morning Richard Noble, driving his jet-propelled car Thrust 2, at RAF Greenham Common, is Berkshire broke the existing British Land Speed Record of 191.64 mph. when he made two runs over a measured mile in opposite directions at a speed of 248 mph, subject to RAC confirmation.
