Jul. 07, 1968 - The World's Largest Hovercraft make its VIP passenger crossing: The world's largest hovercraft the Mountbatten class SRN-4 today made its VIP passenger carrying in a two day Channel crossing from Dover to. The British sail and SRN4 carry 30 cars and more than 200 passengers. Today's trip was a dress rehearsal for tomorrow when Princess Margaret will inaugurate the world's first cross-Channel car and passenger hovercraft service between Dover and Boulogne.
