Oct. 10, 1959 - Association of Tax Payers presented a bicycle: If you will present us with a small canon or a tank some time, we do not mind said Federal Minister of Defence, Franz Josef Strauss (Franz Josef Strauss) when on Oct. 21st, 1959 receiving a bicycle from the Association of Tax Payers. The bicycle was mean to be for the press chief of the Ministry, Lt. Col. Gerd Schmuckle (Gerd Schmuckle) who at a press conference some time ago was late and apologized by saying that he often has to wait a long time before getting a service-car and that it would be quicker to go on a cycle.
