Mar. 03, 1959 - The pirate's foundation: salt herrings and bread for the poor people as foundation of the pirate Klaus Storertebeker there is given bread and salt herrings to the poor people every year on a certain day of March in the little town Verden at the Aller-river. The pirate ordered in 1402 short before his execution that the Cathedral of Verden should get seven windows and the poor people the seldom foundation. Since that time 800 salt-herrings and a rye-bread baken by a special way are distributed on time every year in the court of the town hall
