Mar. 16, 1961 - National Commander Of The American Legion In London. Photo shows William R. Burke, from Los Angeles, California, pictured yesterday at the Savoy Hotel in London. He and his colleagues have been making an extensive tour of U.S. bases and military installations in Europe. Burke is no general. He is an ex-naval lieutenant - with a gallant record of service on the Atlantic-run destroyers. But he is also National Commander of the American Legion, the three-million-strong U.S. war veterans organisation
