Jun. 06, 1964 - Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations.: Portrait of Ambassador Kurt Waldheim, new permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations, who presented his credintials to Secretary - General U thant today. Ambassadoraldheim was born in 191. He graduated from the University of Veinna as a Doctor of Juriprudnce in 1944. He also graduated from the Veinna Consular Academy. The new permanent Representative of Austria joined his country's diplomatic service in 1945. From 1948 to 1951, Mraldheim served as first Secretary at the Austrian Legation in Paris. He was head of the personnel department of the Minister for foreign Affairs in Veinna from 1951 to 1955. In that year Mr.aldheim was appointed Permanent Observer of his country to the U. N. and was head of the Austrian Mission when Austria was admitted to the Organization. Fron 1956 to 1960 Ambassadoraldheim represented his country first as Minister Pleniptentiary and later as Ambassador in Canada. From 1960 to 1962 Mr.aldheim was head of the Political Department West, and from 1962 until June 1964 Director - General for Political Affairs in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Vienna. Ambassador Waldheim has been a member of the Austrian delegations to all sessions of the General Assembly since his country was admitted to the United Nations.
