May 05, 1965 - A Picture of a Girl with Permission to enter a Men's Club.: The Royal Automobile Club, of Pall Mall, St. Jame's, is one of the younger of London's leading clubs which has been going only since 1897. But like its elder brothers in Pall Mall it bars women from the main rooms of the club. Christine Blyth discovered this yesterday. She is a British Broadcasting Company secretary, aged 22, who went down to the club with a producer who was making a motoring programme. To Christine, the R.A.C. is the organisation which issues those perky blue badges which adorn the cars driven alike by men and women. She walked into the club without hesitation. It took a little while for the club to rally against this intrusion. But when she left one of the main rooms and tried to re-enter it, a commissionaire barred her way and politely but firmly told her she was breaking the rules. The club secretary explained later; There is a special room where ladies can wait for their or Pall Mall Rooms without special permission. Christine now has that permission as our picture show
