Aug. 08, 1965 - Botanists ask for 25, 000.: At a press conference given at the Temple Bar Club, feet- street todsy, Professor Donald Pigott, of the University of Lancaster launched a joint appeal by the Botanical Society and the Northumberland and Durham Naturalists Trust for 25, 000. This fund will be used to mount a full-scale opposition to the proposal to construct a reservoir in Upper Teesdale, an area of outstanding scientific importance.
