Jun. 06, 1963 - United Nations Yemen Observation Mission (UNYOM): On 11 June 1963, the Security Council approved the establishment of a United Nations Observation Mission in Yemem (UNYOM), for the purpose of ensuring against any developments in that situation which might threaten the peace of the area'. At the request of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Government of Yugoslavia provided a small reconnaissance group of about 110 officers and men for UNYOM, and the Government of Canada made available an air unit of some 50 officers and men.
