Jun. 06, 1968 - Assembly adjourns after adopting resolution on non-proliferation treaty, hears statement by President of United States: The General Assembly adjourned tonight after adopting a resolution commanding to States the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which was attached to the text and after hearing a statement by President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, who described the Treaty as the most important international agreement in the field of disarmament since the nuclear age began'. The resolution on non-proliferation, which had been recommended by the First Committee (Political and Security) was adopted by a vote of 95 in favour to 4 against (Albania, Cuba, the United Republic of Tanzania, and Zambia) with 21 abstentions.
