Mar. 03, 1968 - Centenary of National Deposit Friendly Society: A Press reception was held this morning at the Waldorf Hotel to mark the centenary of the National Deposit Friendly Society. The first official meeting of the Society, the minutes of which are still preserved, was held at the Guildhall in April 1868, and showed six members present including the Rev. George Portal. Photo shows Mr. D.H. Roper, O.B.E. the General Secretary of the Society - makes his speech during the press reception to mark the Centenary year. at the Waldorf this morning
