Jul. 14, 1971 - American Bar Association Inaugural Assembly at Westminster Hall.: More than 5, 000 American Lawyers, Judges, and public officials are in London for one of the biggest conferences ever held here. The occasion is the America Bar Association's annual meeting. The conference was opened this morning with a ceremony in Westminster Hall in which Lord Hailsman, the Lord Chancellor, Sir Peter Rawlinson, the Attorney General, the American Bar Association President and the president of the Law Society in Britain took part. The meeting will last a week. London was chosen because American Law is based on English common law. The Bar Council and the law society are joint hosts.
