Sep. 09, 1975 - General Assembly Opens Thirteen Regular Session Admits Three States To United Nations Membership: The General Assembly, opening its thirtieth regular session this afternoon, elected Caston Thorn, Prime Minister and Foregin Minister of Luxembourg, as its President, and admitted three new Member States to the United Nations, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, and Mozambique. The Organisation now has 141 members. Welcoming statements were made by a number of delegations, and then the Foreign Minister of Cape Verde, Albilao Augusto Montairo Duarto; the Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe, Miguel Trovoada; and the Foreign Minister of Mozambique, Joaquim Alberto Chissano, addressed the Assembly.
