Sep. 09, 1981 - New Chief Scout: Major General Michael Walsh CB DSO has been named to succeed Sir William Gladstone as Chief Scout upon him retirement in early 1982. Major General Walsh, who retired from the Army in 1981 gained the rare distinction of the King's scout Award with Gold Cored as a boy.
