Mar. 03, 1981 - Snowdon at Transport Without Handicap Conference: The Rt. Hon the Earl of Snowdon President of the International Year of the Disabled People today spoke at the opening of the one day National conference Transport Without Handicap in the Great Hall, Kensington Town Hall London W, 8. 550 delegates representing transport operators and planners together with disabled transport users themselves met to discuss the special problems which disabled people face when using transport, and how transport can better be made to meet their needs. Picture Shows Taxi for the disabled. Earl Snowdon watches Mr. Bert Massie of Radar trying out a new London Taxi which is being developed by a Coventry firm. It will enable a person in a wheelchair to travel in a position of maximum safety. It is expected that this taxi will go into production in 1983
