1969 - Upper Clyde shipbuilders hand over the QE2 to Cunard: After four months of delays and frustration the 29, 000, 000 liner Queen Elizabeth 2 was handed over to Sir Basil Smallpiece, chairman of the Cunard, by Mr. A Hepper, Chairman of Upper Clyde Shipbuilders, at a special ceremony in the Cunard's offices, off St. James's Square, London, yesterday.
