Sep. 09, 1958 - Race Riot youths are jailed for four years as Judge gives new warning: Nine youths aged between 17 and 20 who set out on what one of them described as A Nigger hunting expedition and injured five black men, three of them seriously, were each sentenced to four years imprisonment at the old Bailey today. The judge, Mr. Justice Salmon, 54, told the sentenced youths: Everyone, irrespective of the colour of their skins, is entitled to walk through our streets in peace, with their heads erect, and free from fear.
