Oct. 10, 1962 - Dr Nkrumah declines life presidency. Mrs Nkrumah listens to the speeches. Dr Nkrumah refused the Life Presidency of Ghana in his address at the opening of Parliament in Accra recently. He said that the best way of ensuring his continuity and that of his party in office was for the return of My Party the Conventional People's Party'. Security officers lined the two mile route for the state drive to the Parliament Buildings.
